Red Guard or Red Guards?

Red Guard. All the bolt-actioners are part of a "Red Guard", which is to denote a part China's defence forces, and China's house color is Red, so it's called Red Guard.
"We are the Red Guard." - Red Guard
"We are the Red Guard." - Red Guard

"Red Guards" implies simple red-painted men, not "members of the Red Guard"
. Also, moved to CnC forum.

I think the Red Guard is the term for the GROUP itself...
-- you are a MEMBER of the Red Guard....
-- Those men are part of the Red Guard...
I think the better question is, what is the singular term... which would be a Red Guard
thats just the way that I've always seen the word as

Red Guard. Since it's an organization. Militaristically, Guard in 'Red Guard' means a guarding army not a man. So, those soldiers will be called 'Red Guard' (but actually means members of the Red Guard). If you really want to call a specific member of the Red Guard, you may call them Red Guardsman.
Another example is from WH40k, which the Space Marine legions and Imperial Guard armies that have 'Guard' as their name don't add 's' into the 'Guard'.
As you might have seen...
- Raven GUARD
- Death GUARD
- Imperial GUARD
- Mordian Iron GUARD
...there is no 's' at the end of 'GUARD'.

Yes, but Imperial Guard soldiers are called Guardsmen.
So then that adds a new dimension of complication. Should they be called Red Guardsmen?

It's just a game, dudes
Don't count on me but, stereotypically with ShW China's _massive_ population, in the army cannon fodder wouldn't need identities since they number in the thousands (Believe me, InfGen spams them like hell).
The Red Guard is part of China's armies, maybe there would be a Red Wall, Red Airforce, Red Balloon, Red Coast, Red Navy, Red science...

No reference to ROTR...oh wait, I just contradicted myself.
But yeah, they're soldiers of the Red Guard. If you'd to call them individually they'd be Soldier, I presume...

The plural of guard is guards, and when you don't have the "-s" extension, it sounds like it is missing something.
We have five Red Guard.
We have five Red Guards.
Maybe it's just me, but it sounds a little better with the s.

In a way I suppose but then I prefer the way other sentence are read
"We are the Red Guard faction".
"Get a team of Red Guard".
That sort of thing, It's just how you say it.
Officially it is Red Guard though, just like the "The Queen's Guard"
They don't have an s because they are the specific title of something, where as a guard or guards could be anything... Like the word Sheep or Deer... they are specific titles.
You would say Chinese Guards or weak guards or get the guards etc. Just you leave off the s if it's specific.
