Server Migration

Fallout Studios is the first large site transferred over from the old server (Fawkes) to the new server (Nagini).
We're doing something a little different in our setup. We're having Lighttpd serve static content and proxy php requests to Apache. So the next couple of weeks might be a little rough as we smooth things out. cPanel/WHM does not officially support this type of setup so I've written some scripts to help out the configuration. But I think it'll work out fairly well.
So if you see anything wrong that you think might be server related.
I know of one issue, and I'll resolve it when I have time (wiki: when you click on an image you get 404).
Sorry for the downtime. It was kind of spontaneous decision, but I did ask CodeCat if it was alright.
Thanks for your cooperation

Ok, so I didn't get much of what you wrote
but yeah I guess I can handle it. Good luck with a smooth transition.

Again, some of that was lost on me. However, good to see it's up and running, and it does appear extremely smooth, if that's possible. Will make two points - firstly, as a user behind a dynamic ip (and hating it), the static content, or something like that is giving me a lot of joy in that I'm not being logged out every ten seconds. Not sure whether this is a bug or not, but worth mentioning. Secondly, is it just conicidence that the old server was called Fawkes, and this one Nagini? Sounds just slightly familiar, having heard of Harry Potter and all. As such, has the forum become one with the dark side?
Good work nonetheless, downtime is expected in migrating so much stuff, glad to see it all up and running

Yes I noticed that too.

Well in mate. Although I couldn't understand you at some parts, it appears you did something beneficial to the forums. Cheers!

Hmm as a result of this, the Front Page has gone and messed itself up - I'd imagine it's related to the wiki problem, in that all of the resources it uses are now elsewhere. Basically, it's gone text only, with only off-site images being available. Linky
EDIT: From the 'Sneaky Forum' thread, the forum isn't registering online users most of the time either, or is sub-consciously logging people out the second they become inactive, meaning that the person that performs the search for online members appears as the only person online at the time.

I get the feeling so many things are broken, that whatever this masterplan is, it's not worth it.

The actual forum still works Code so its not a big problem, lets give JNengland the time he needs to solve the bugs before making any decisions on further downtime.

The online list is broken yes, but I've not been swarmed with people on MSN saying FS is down, we have people posting. In the simplest of senses the forums do work, people can access, people can post.

Some people can post. Some can't even log in. That's why there is nobody online.

Seems to be fixed now, have the bugs been solved or have we gone back to the previous settings?

Yeah I changed something. Apache wasn't getting the right IP addresses from the proxy (Lighttpd), and I was in a hurry to get to class this morning otherwise I would have posted.
CodeCat besides the wiki (is there a wiki setting to serve images like Image:name without the extension?) and frontpage (no idea) do you see any other errors?

Well, there is this: http://www.cncreneclips.com/
And no, it's not possible to change the names of wiki images at all. This is going to stay broken...

If you go to the real location of the website, i.e. here everything shows as it should, so I'm guessing it's something to do with the redirect thing that was set up (although this may have already been figured out)... maybe it just needs to be set up again...?

Interesting thing to note about the wiki images, it only occurs on images that have a lower case extension. This Yuri Photo can't be found, and is titled Yuri_photo.jpg. However, if we take this Jpeg image right here, it can be found quite easily - note that it is named Sororita_Sacred_Rose.JPG - with a higher case extension. And to prove it's not a fluke, here is a png file, with a higher case extension too - and here it is.
Makes me wonder what we have to do to fix this without resorting to sorting out every single thing - surely worth looking at as it bypasses the naming of the image without an extension at all, as Jnengland has otherwise suggested.

AJ that makes sense to me. Since I didn't type any of the extensions in odd cases or all caps. In which case lighttpd ignores it, and gives it to Apache.
Well I've found a way to solve this, and we'll probably be ditching lighttpd as a proxy as it doesn't support a certain feature we need (aka check if the file exists as a condition). But I'm kind of busy with school stuff at the moment; so testing will have to wait a couple days. Initial testing shows very postive results for static content, but poor php performance (not sure why yet).
Oh and I've fixed the homepage.

Something I've just realised. On the test site, I uploaded some changes that I made, they worked on my local server, but for some reason they didn't work on the previous server, but after the move they work, so that's good news ^_^.

Is there any reason why the wanted page list on the wiki has gone berserk?
Pages are normally by,
Number of links
Location of page with link (alphabetically)
With Templates and manuals and project pages lower down the rank than standard article pages
Another bug I encountered. Still cannot upload files to the wiki though most of the ones currently there work fine.

Well we were having too many problems so we've switched back to just using Apache.
Please report any problems if you see any.
