to answer your question Kalo its not just an arena fight or scenarios its more of an overall generalization between the two games. another reason why Freeman is better is that he didn't sign up to wage war he was put in that situation and other unforeseen consequences (pun totally intended) Freeman is like the guy one could look up to in the way he is an average hero some guy in an hazardous environmental suit left to sort out some one else's mess with out being asked.
the master chief on the the other hand you knew he's a solider so you knew its a war game so not much story is needed!
