Not sure if i should be putting this topic here, but move it if you want :) .

But basically what it says, i keep getting very annoying pop-ups every few minutes. I am using firefox, just recently installed it, its pretty good, but i keep getting pop-ups >: (i used to get the same ones on IE :) ) I have 'block pop-us' selected, and there are no exceptions. I have deleted all cookies (except for google, this forum and ogame). I also have the extension 'adblock plus', i think its supposed to be for blocking the actual adverts on web pages rather than pop-ups, but either way it doesn't work.

So, basically, my question is, does anyone have any suggestions as to how im supposed to stop these f***ing pop-ups?

here are a few of the sites that keep coming up:

Do you have a firewall?? You also might want to consider d/ling McAfee for antivirus and to get rid of the cookies from you computer. I have it, and it works really well.

This sounds familiar to me... oh wait, it happened to me. Once.

I recommend Spybot S&D. Or ewido anti-malware. Either way, try to search up for solutions in SS&D forums. I helped me.

The McAfee software that blocks pop-ups is for internet explorer, which won't help and i have spybot (as well as others) and they don't find anything.

EDIT: i may have spoken in haste, the mcafee antispyware has detected quite alot of stuff, so it may have worked, only time will tell...

how, there's only a tick box sayin 'block pop-ups' and a button next to it saying 'allowed sites'.

Hold on... are these popups generated by sites, or are they done by the messenger service? Get a screenshot of the popup next time one comes up, so I can see if it is really a website that is generating them.

Ok, it's not a messenger popup then. Can't really say I know what it is either. Although with the amount of stuff you have installed in your browser, there's no telling what else could've been installed on the way... :)

open up windows task manager and see if any odd sounding programs are active, then google their names and you will know if theyre malicious or legit, if theyre malicious first see if you can get rid of them with the add remove programs " I used this to get rid of some particularily nasty spyware called TBPS, nothing could get rid of it it crashed ad-aware when it tried 2 delete it" if you still get the popups do a full system scan with Ad-aware followed by Spybot, if that still doesnt work, it gets more complicated.

This sounds very familiar and reminded me that i do still have one spware that i can't get rid of(well one that i know about). Its called 'Razespyware', it changes your background toi this webpage saying buy stuff and also kept putting shortcuts on my desktop (e.g. intenet gambeling, free holidays, etc.) I did get rid of it, and none of the syptoms are there anymore, but when i use spybot it still appears and when i try to get rid of it, it say 'couldn't get rid of it, do you want to try on next start up', i click yes and it crahses (and never starts on next start up). Could this be a cause?

If not i'm out of ideas...

it could well be yes, try and see if its on add remove programs, when i found the spyware on there i was amazed myself, something that blocked anti virus, deleted stuff and was a fucking pain in the ass, was just removed by its hidden un-installation program. TBPS had a proper name, cant remember something like IBPS Toolbar, it minimized my games every 5 mins, wouldnt let me shut down, took half my memory useage, and regularily caused my comp to crash, once i got rid of it my computer was fine, maybe have a look through the program files and see if you can find anything suspicious or do a system search.

not sure if this helps but heres a pic:
[attachment=1035:attachment]

It still says it can't remove it, and 'do you want to remove it on next start up'

lol, i solved that problem ages ago, my three step solution to your problem:

1)Run hitman pro to get rid of spyware

2)download firefox, way better than IE, less problems too..

3) enjoy

I have two comps running the same programs and both of them are virus and spybot free. I use Ad-aware and spybot s&d for spyware and sygate firewall and antivir anti-virus program.
