Why the gasmask/tie? Don't get me wrong, that does look cool, but I've never come across gas-mask related material on the forums.
I was thinking more along the lines of a vault door, reflecting the name "Fallout Studios" in a subtle way.

Maybe do a rendered version of something like this (this example is ugly, but something along the lines):
*image*

It would be easily recognizable no matter the size, and rather unique as well. :D

EDIT: Whatever the decision, I would also enjoy seeing a vote for this.
How on earth is a vault door a mascot though? Sure it'd work as a logo, but this is more than a logo - a personification of the identity of the forums.

Yeah you're right Alias, I was thinking of a logo, my mistake. I guess for a mascot, I really don't care if we have one or not. Although I still like the notion of voting between possible mascots. :)

I'm looking forward to seeing what people come up with here, though my artistic streak is less of a streak and more of a slender and tenuous thread, so I doubt I can contribute productively myself. The gas mask/suit idea is nice (though Strangelove will probably sue for it), and the vault door was probably a little too close to the other Fallout anyway. Regardless, good luck guys, and I hope you'll have fun.
As for a vote that does seem the most likely method of deciding the final product, yes.

Is that original?

We need to have something totally uninfringed by copyright.

Alias certainly has the right idea. There will be a vote to decide whose mascot we use. If people have entries and they don't consider themselves great artists then we can always knock them up for them.

Ok, well the final entries, if completed in illustrator or photoshop will need to be submitted in .ai or .psd format so we can judge that they are original works.

I like the Gas mask idea alot.
Kudos to Alias, I'm going to be coming up with something too though.
I will make something most probably gas mask themed, unless someone asks me not to, I can understand that it detracts from originality.

I think we'd very much like to avoid the meme theme where we can. We need something that identifies us as a community, the modding, fallout, indie games, community. I can see some logic in the meme theme, but that really is only a community thing and not what we are about.

That said, the final design, will be voted for by the community, so if someone enters and it's choosen, c'est la vie.

Have to say I'm not a fan of having to choose between 80 different gas masks. Something more original could work. I mean Linux has a penguin ffs.

I've never actually seen a gas mask used as an identifier, so technically it is pretty unique.

That and the word "fallout" doesn't give us too much to work with.

If you're wondering why I'm posting so many of these, in this type of industry, the 'more, the better'. Also - whoever choose the orange to as the alternate colour to the blue, great choice. The fact they're complimentary means that using orange/dark blue means that it suits either skin!

Second entry.
The idea behind this was that, as a modding community we are creative, and full of ideas, thus the lightbulb. We rally ideas and such off each other and something gets blown wide open, thus the bomb.
The stickman body was just for characterisation, and it gives a nice portal feel to it.

Edit: Oh, his name?
Mr. Lightbomb I guess.
