They're not any more overpriced than say, your graphics card.

Audio is often the most overlooked element even though it is just about the most cost effective in the long run.

A $300 graphics card will be obsolete in 18 months.
A $300 pair of headphones will be obsolete in 18 years.

In fact I'd go as far as saying you get far more enjoyment spending $200 extra on audio than you do spending it on new hardware.

I've a set of Technics headphones that I used for DJing, still working perfectly 9 years later, and they cost me £120 at the time. The above statement is truth.

Patagonia Softshell. Something like 240 normally, I got it on clearance for 70. I feel successful.
