Hey guys, I just wanted to take this opportunity to ask you: What is the worst ISP (Internet Service Provider) out there? Use your experiences to base your conclusion. I have Comcast, it's pretty reliable. I think Road Runner is the worst.

A bad ISP has low value, high prices, (low) bandwidth limits, high downtime, time limits, parental controls and no virus protection.

Slow down, tracking your stuff, cost alot for a pretty small speed. (Ive been on upto 250kbps for far too long) RETARDED FUCKING CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Not everybody lives in the States General Wesley Also I've heard mixed things about Comcast but that it is still better than Verizon and Sprint, No idea about Road Runner.

Knowing that there is technically only one really shitty ISP here in Lebanon, I'll pass mine off as worst

You can only get 2 ISPs over here, and suprise suprise, they are both redicously expensive. One thing I will say though, the package we are on is advertised at 2mpbs and that's what we get (which is more than I can say for a lot of ISPs in the UK), we also rarely experience any problems.

I have Sky here, and to be fair it's OK. BT refused to provide service here, but Sky said they could, and they did. BT really suck in some areas, but are ace in others, eg my Grandmother gets 15mbps from them easily.

My current ISP is excellent. My previous ISP could probably have been classified as the worst in Britain. I say been because they went bust a while back.

High price for what you're getting, and it took us several months to get out plan cancelled.

Yeah, no contest. Thankfully I've never had the misfortune of using them, but the 'value' of their plans is atrocious.
I have AAPT, they're pretty good and I have few real complaints, though they did once forget to unshape us after we went over our data limit, which I wasn't too thrilled with.

I also have Comcast, and I find it to be VERY reliable, and pretty darn fast. As for the worst, well my school connection isn't so good. It blocks torrenting, and if a lot of people are on at once, forget about using the internet.

I don't think we've ever had a bad ISP. Our first broadband connection was with Demon, who provided great service without any problems whatsoever. Then they got taken over by XS4ALL, and they seem pretty decent too.

I have Verizon FiOS and I get a smooth 54mbps(that's AFTER going through a cheap wireless router). I have no idea what my bandwidth limit is because I don't think I've ever reached it. It just works and I don't complain.

Usually, your ISP will throttle your connection down to dial-up speed ("shaping") when you exceed said limit.

Here you get charged extra without being notified. Thankfully with DSL you keep your speed. Those on Wireless internet though get it completely cut-off I believe.

Comcast here. It's decent, speed's generally alright, internet goes down perhaps once a month...but I hate dealing with their customer service. To give you an idea of how bad it was at one point: a few years ago, they had the worst customer service ratings in the country entirely. Less than even, *drumroll* the Internal Revenue Service. And they're against net neutrality. Oh, and, the bills went up by a fair amount a few months back when they got that new skyscraper in Philadelphia.

It can depend - my last plan was with Optus; they applied excess usage charges, and several other telcos do as well. This did leave us with an unfortunate bill when we didn't realise that our grandparents' limit was only 200MB a couple of years ago, and throttling is a far more common tactic these days.
