Anyway @ topic title, from personal experience I'd say AOL or TalkTalk are the worst.

RESIDENTIAL broadband users could soon have access to high-speed internet services at a cheaper rate after Sure said it was reviewing its price structure.

The announcement comes following news that Jersey residents will this month gain access to an eight megabits-per-second connection for £19.99 from Sure and £27.99 a month from Jersey Telecoms.

Guernsey residents are currently only offered a two mbps service – although Sure does offer four and eight mbps as business products for £49.99 and £79.99 a month respectively.

The higher speed services are also available to home users, but Sure said there had only been a demand for it from the business community.

‘We introduced Sure Pro four and eight mbps services before Jersey, but they are currently priced for the business community because that’s where there has been demand,’ said Sure’s marketing director Paul Taylor.

‘We are investing £2m. in expanding our network using street boxes so that we can meet the expected demand from customers for higher speeds.

‘We will be reviewing our offering and consulting with other operators in the island, as we are legally required to do, and I expect that we will be able to make further announcements on our residential broadband services within a matter of months.’

Wave currently offers only a two mbps service in Guernsey, but said it hoped that would change soon.

‘We are keen to supply competitively priced, higher speed broadband services for Guernsey, similar to those available in the UK, and plan to also offer four and eight mbps services later this year.’

http://www.thisisguernsey.com/2009/09/05/h...-to-get-faster/

We may not get the slowest connection (although it's not exactly light-speed), but we certainly get ripped off. Jersey get 8mbps for £19.99, while in Guernsey, with the same company, we can get 2mbps for £24.99 (last time I checked). We pay £5 more per month for a quarter of the speed, what a load of bollocks. Also doesn't help that the speed hasn't been as consistent as it used to be, regardless of what they say. It also made me laugh, them saying that there is currently no demand for faster connections for home use... do they do any market research? 8D I'm Sure (pun not intended 8D) we will eventually get those 4 and 8mbps services, but they will probably still be over-priced, and by then the rest of the world will have moved on to 4 and 8gbps connections anyway 8D

/rant

EDIT: Ironically, after all that, after a test, I end up with an above average connection 8D

Why on earth would you need more than 100Mb/s, those speeds are insane for the UK, which university is that?

Oh and Pingtest now my friend has stopped torrenting, - Posted Image

Ours is the express.

Keep in mind that I ran the test from this laptop (wireless) while two other computers were online, but I don't think I got 10 Mbps on my old desktop either.

In Southern Ontario, our primary services are Rogers Communications and Bell Canada, with Shaw and a couple of others. I suspect that my family is being overcharged by Rogers for the TV and Internet services but I'll have to look into that some more.
