Enceladus's Stuff

Enceladus's Photo Enceladus 18 Jun 2009

I will update this thread from time to time with stuff I have made. Please feel free to give comments and criticism. Criticism will just help me improve (if that is possible :P )

Anyways first thing to show you is my skin of the Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor from Star Wars. It was made in mind for the Empire at War game so ahs the fairly low resolutin/dimensions of 512 x 512. Also it is my very first skin. :xD: Model is by Dr. Nick. Also thanks to Nick and Kalo for advice and pointers while I was skinning this. I may post some other colour variant on here later. Also YES I know about the laser cannons on the skin. They need to be re-UV'd so I cna skin them properly. Right now they are jsut using a leftover part of stretched texture.

For a first skin, the Actis is amazing. As I said on your thread on the SWR forum, I definitely like Ord Mantell the best out of your maps - filling a map with props can easily feel crowded and, well, unskilled, but the way you've pulled it off there is anything but, and I love the diversity of the debris you've used. Of the other more 'conventional' maps, I'm particularly liking Poderis - it actually reminds me a lot of the first Rebel mission from Force Commander (escaping from the prison on the devastated ruins of Kalaan City), and it has a lot of atmosphere. Were I to have a criticism, it would be that the arrangement of trees in the last image is very unnatural; but the more I look at it, the more I think I'm looking at a landscaped garden! Am I right? If so, I would encourage a few walls around the perimeter and a clearer road to the house. If not, I'd suggest you thin out the trees and make it sloped instead of stepped in at least a couple of instances, because otherwise it kind of reminds me of a botanical version of Minas Tirith.

that model and skin do look good :P

more detail on the skin i'd say but apart from that it's nice :xD:

I think you should keep skinning things, you've obviously got talent for it.

Yeah JB. That pic fo Bothaiwu was meant to be a terraced hill in a more natural fashion. I would put walls but there's nto exactly a prop that would fit the scene. :(

Anyways small skin update. I added a bit more to the rear part of the wings and bottom.

Weren't there stone walls on Naboo, or were they all part of the structures on that map?

There were. They're ugly as hell but I'll see how they look when I have some time to go back and look at that map.

Some more stuff to throw up on here.

Mace Windu's Eta-2 Actis-class ingame. The jagged lines, blurriness and black lines in some areas can be blamed on the ingame picture taking fail called Xfire. 8|

Next up is my skin of the V-19 Torrent starfighter from STar Wars. This still ahs some work to be done on it though. The model is by Guardsman. However the areas where the textures are stretched (ie. around cockpit and edges of wings) are going to be narrowed down so you will not see any of those horrid gradients. Also please note that the paint is the same colour in all areas and it is jsut the lighting that is making it appear darker on the wings.

V-19 torrent was great, good job

Even with those errors you've mentioned, it's still a fantastic skin job.

Agreed with the two above; the Torrent is by far my favourite of the fighters you've posted so far. You've got the colour mix down to a science and it's very sharp, particularly on the wings.

AWESOME dude!
V-19 is truly awesome!

The droid could use a better work on the weapon, since it looks too small for he.
