For those out of the loop, http://www.abc.net.a...time/countdown/

There's a stream somewhere on there if you're overseas and wanna listen.

Thoughts so far:
Sex on Fire is unbelievably overrated
Hearts a Mess at 77 was surprising but awesome

I'm going to have a good laugh if we see any Astley in the top 20.

So far mostly good, except Kashmir should be higher than 97 and Sex on Fire should be completely banished.

Biggest music poll in the world, yeeeeeaaaaaaaah.

Green Day - Good Riddance at 75.

Hopefully the only song of theirs we see today.

Appalling, but I suppose I expected that.
as a fan of Kings of Leon, I can say Sex on Fire is NOT one of their best songs. I actually find it to be extremely boring.. I feel the same way about Float On - Modest Mouse, actually..
I also think it's rather upsetting that Daft Punk - One More Time ranked so low.
Hate on me if you like, but I always lol at the concept of Rage Against the Machine being on a list like this. They've always had a sort of "HAY LOOKIT US WE'RE *REBELS!*" feel IMO.
this sig is a lie

How in the bloody hell is Kashmir so far down that list? The same goes for Back in Black and...wait a tick....a Beatles' song that low?! o.O What gives? As for Bowie's Life on Mars, he had better hits, such as Rebel, Rebel and Space Oddity. Paint it Black should also be higher.

I question the general assumption that i am inherently deficient in the area of grammar and sentence structure

Plus one. Anyone who thinks Choy Suey is in the top 100 best songs of all times is in need of a lobotomy.

I think it's cool to see some good songs in there, but at the same time worrying to see them so low on the list.

The next 10 were:
61. Blur - Song 2
62. Nine Inch Nails - Closer
63. AC/DC - Thunderstruck
64. Violent Femmes - Blister in the Sun
65. Underworld - Born Slippy
66. Elton John - Tiny Dancer
67. Ben Folds Five - Brick
68. Blink 182 - Dammit
69. Jeff Buckley - Grace
70. The Prodigy - Breathe

As much as I like Song 2, what's it doing at 61? I don't believe it deserves to be that high on the list. I'm surprised Elton John's Tiny Dancer only placed in the low 60's. I would've expected it to be in the 40's or 30's.

I'm surprised where Closer is, it was top 20 last time.

Quote

51. Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet With Butterfly Wings
52. You Am I - Berlin Chair
53. Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
54. The Cure - Close To Me
55. Bob Dylan - Like A Rolling Stone
56. Jeff Buckley - Lover, You Should Have Come Over
57. Tool - Forty Six & 2
58. Daft Punk - Around The World
59. Augie March - One Crowded Hour
60. Johnny Cash - Hurt

Comments: Comfortably Numb, Like a Rolling Stone and Hurt should all be at least 20 places higher, too much Smashing Pumpkins.

Johnny Cash should be up a bit higher, but "Hurt" wasn't his best. What's up with all of the Smashing Pumpkins stuff?

Hopefully the general voting populace agree with you.

Also for those who weren't listening, at 55 they started playing Never Gonna Give You Up, but went onto the real 55 at about a minute in.

The announcer afterwards tipped it for top 10 |8

I'd agree with that. This is a music poll on the internet, what do you expect? :read:

The voting concluded before Michael Jackson died, so I wouldn't be so sure about that.

Actually, for once I agree with the masses where a song has placed. Sweet Child O' Mine is good, but the Beatles, Jackson, and Beach Boys did have better songs.

Banquet, while a good song, is one of those current songs that doesn't belong in the list IMO.

Either way, you honestly can't say it's better than Hey Jude.

Edit: Update:

22. Massive Attack - Teardrop
23. Hunters & Collectors - Throw Your Arms Around Me
24. The Beatles - A Day in the Life
25. Pearl Jam - Alive
26. Michael Jackson - Thriller
27. Powderfinger - My Happiness
28. Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees
29. Pixies - Where Is My Mind?
30. Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower
31. Metallica - Enter Sandman
32. New Order - Blue Monday
33. Silverchair - Tomorrow
34. The Living End - Prisoner Of Society
