GLA Battle Bendy Bus

If you didn't think the Battle Bus was big enough, then this one's for you:

Shown on the left is the default state, and on the right is the Battle Bendy Bus fully salvaged. The black bits in the cargo nets will not appear in-game, I just can't render it right.

This is the new Battle Bendy Bus, being fielded by the standard GLA commanders. It has space for an additional two soldiers, and has a little bit of extra armor. However, it is less maneuverable, and costs a little more than the original.

I'm trying to use a WWSkin to make the accordion segment bend along its vertices, and I'm not sure if it'll work. If anyone knows exactly how to do it, or has a better solution, I could use a little help.

In a way I believe it would be quite awesome if there was a double decker upgrade for the bus. Could give it more hit points in both bus and bunker modes. Reminds me of the bus race that Top Gear had to see which one was the best for the general public.

Note to Top Gear team: never use touring car/DTM race car drivers to demonstrate or test theories such as the fore mentioned article.

You should make it so that for the final salvage upgrade, it gets an additional bendy bit. ;)

That episode was my inspiration for this idea.

I could make the Bendy Battle Bus hold over 10 people, but then you wouldn't be able to see them all in the commandset. That could make things a little difficult, but if you are loading 20+ people in a single unit, chances are you don't need to extract them out individually.
Though if it is just a armor upgrade, then I see little reason why not.

How it bends currently is by using Cab/Trailer logic, as seen in some civillian units, but this limits me to only a single "trailer." Of course, two trailers gets a little ridiculous, and could make unit movement extremely difficult.

If I animated it like a combat cycle, it would give me the ability to make it bend in two places, but I would have to animate it with a skeleton, like an infantry unit. Not impossible, but it would take some doing. I may have to do this anyways, as I don't think my initial solution will work.

If only we had mechapede logic or something...

Don't you just love things that seem simple at first, but then explode into an absurdly complex series of problems?

Part of the reason for that last bit you mentioned is SAGE. >_>

And yes, I had suggested the double decker bit as purely an armor upgrade. The thinking being more bus, more hit points.

I'm all for the Double Decker upgrade. I don't think I'll be adding another segment to the bus though, it just is going a little too far.

Would you be terribly opposed to creating a double decker bendy bus? I probably should have mentioned that from the outset that that's what I was thinking when I suggested the double decker bit.

That was what I was thinking for the upgrade, to add a top portion to the front and back segment of the bendy bus, so it would be like a bendy Roadmaster.

As for right now, I'm working on the Stealth General super unit, so I'll have to get back to this a little later.

Why don't you just make a new unit which is a double decker battle bus. As much as i want a double deck bendy batttle bus i would still like a double decker. :P
