China Overlord and Emperor Tank Re-Make

Just a re-make of the Overlord and Emperor tanks, with numerous graphical fixes:



I couldn't stand looking at that Emperor tank anymore. Just looking at it made me want to throw up, it looked so terrible. There was tread textures all over the turret, the skin was stretched all over the place, vents where they weren't needed, a lack of sufficient housecolor, and those horribly square barrels for a tank this large. I had to fix it.

Here's a comparison shot of the old and new Emperor tanks:



Looks a lot better, right?

Indeed, the Overlord and Emperor tanks look much better than before. For one thing, the new skins give the tanks a new lease on life, and the rounder, larger barrels are much more imposing than before.

sweet! he means that one turret is square (low poly) and the other round (high poly)

I never actually had problems with the emperor... but if you point it like this... its a great improvement

Mabye, lowering the frontal treadcovers a bit could make it look a bit less blocky even

While your textures are better, the turret design of the old emperor (With that I mean only the model) is more to my liking.

I can see what Shock means. I do slightly prefer the turret design of the old Emp, but only in the way that it raises into a sort of a v at the front. Your version, on the whole, is much better Jordan. Nice redsign.

i agree with JJ. yayo emperor turret looks too normal overlord ish, plus turret skin doent suit that of chassis in darkneess

I just based my emperor to jordan's, Even the turret. I just made it abit like the vOvie but the turret is longer and have more shape

Er, this part doesn't look very good at all. I don't really get what you were trying to do here. It looks like you were trying to copy my original housecolor design, then shoved the front of the Emperor's turret into it, making a mess.

Also, where does the Gattling turret go? I don't see anywhere you can stick it to now, especially with those headlights which would get blocked by it.

And you should fix the smoothing on the barrels.

I tried keeping the staple "V" shaped barrel holder of the emperor and that's the best thing i can do with my crappy modeling skills . As for the housecolour, i did based it on your design and as for the shape, don't worry, i based my turret on the original overlord tank.

I'm still redesigning the gattling gun to fit it somewhere

Heh, i hope you still don't mind. We do have one goal with this tank and that goal is to purge the EA crappyness !

lol... the second render was obviously better Jordan. just because of the air shaft

I'm still not liking the front of that turret. But I think that the V-shape might be worth bringing back.

So, to continue the Emperor war, here's my second final version:



I gave the turret the V-shape again, fixed the speaker tower base a little bit, and re-textured the sides of the turret. I also gave up on the Emperor's turret design in the front, and stuck with the normal Overlord design, with a quick modification. And the area where the barrels meet the turret has been re-textured as well, rather than just using the texture of the hatch from the original.
