China Armor Crawler

A very big Troop Crawler replacement for Kwai, the Armor Crawler comes with four Battlemaster tanks:

This unit can crush tanks with its massive weight, and allow tanks to fire outside its numerous fireports. In addition, it can heal nearby units with its Propaganda Tower. It features much more resilient armor than a Troop Crawler too, able to take fire from enemy tanks and missile launchers.

However, these features come at a price. The cost to build just one of these things is a whopping $3400, $400 more than the Gattlinglord, Kwai's super unit.

Just a word on scale, an Armor Crawler is the same size as an Overlord. It is very, very big.

Can it only hold 4 battlemasters?
And another question, can it hold other tanks aswell? (2 gatts and 2 battle masters please :))

And onto the model itself, looks awesome! Nice job you did there :)

Very large, and very :)

The treads fill the wheel arches better than the standard tyres, and in my honest opinion, they look better as well. You wouldn't happen to have any in-game screen shots of this mechanical beast, would you? :)

It can hold any tank that can fit inside a transport. So it won't fit any super units inside it, but you might be able to cram two Emperors in it, or four gattling tanks, or whatever you happen to have on hand.

Wow, this is such a simple idea, but now is absurdly time-consuming to code. I have to add this line below to every structure and transport that doesn't allow a vehicle to garrison it:

	ForbidInsideKindOf = VEHICLE;Necessary due to Armor Crawler stuff.


That means EVERY civillian building, humvee, battle bus, troop crawler, etc. because I had to give all vehicles the infantry KindOf.

And it also means that vehicles can shoot out of a Helix. That could be VERY bad.

That's... crazy!

I really like the look of this thing. Like Nuker said, I find it more aesthetically pleasing than the vanilla troop crawler. The treads really go well with it.

Great idea, does that door animate when tanks load/offload?

The tread wheels dont make sense btw :)

Yeah, the door works. And I don't particularly care about the tread wheels.

Anyways, now a new bug has arisen. In order for tanks to shoot outside, they have to be classified as infantry. Now, I have to modify every civilian structure in the game so it won't let vehicles inside. As you can see below, the Battlemasters can attack from inside bunkers now too:

I tried the logic that Tank Bunkers use, but that causes a ton of bugs that aren't fixable.

Now either I modify all vehicles in the game to become part infantry, and all structures to reject vehicles, or I set the crawler to function like a normal troop crawler.

^ This, it's useless to do so much coding, especially if you forget one of the buildings and then lots of people will rant about the garrison bug :)

BTW, can't combat chinooks allow vehicles to fire from them ? I think I saw a crusader firing from a a chinook once...

As well as that would fit the "crazy" theme, I believe Jordan is doing it for the player's sanity, and also, because the AI could abuse this kind of "flaw" (if you will) to no end.

I do agree though, it would be quite amusing for at least one or two structures to permit tanks and such inside as a "garrison". About the vehicles shooting from a Helix, I wouldn't write it off until you've at least tried it. Not in the confines of your test map, but perhaps with a willing test subject (shameless self plug)?

Probably because it takes away an advantage infantry have over vehicles.

Would you be able to do it similarly to an internet center, by only allowing certain units in?

That would still require him to code that for every building, because hackers can garrison normal buildings too. Making the crawler vehicle only isn't so much of a problem.

And as crazy as it may be, vehicles garrison buildings just doesn't make sense. Imagine an Emperor firing from a wooden guard tower.

those structures should be bunkers and things that dont have walls inside of em. tank in a civ flat anyone?
