Ah. Well the Lenz Flare isn't ground aligned so, yeah raising it off the ground won't help with that.

Yeah, even if you raise the ground aligned particles though, it tears horribly with the smoke. Hence why its not ground aligned :sly:

EDIT : Heres that missile trail everyone has been clamouring about.

Woops, forgot to turn off the music.

Simply add the particlesystems to the weapon object via ParticleSysBone = *Bone Name* *Particle Name*

[quote name='Ion Cannon!' post='692306' date='13 Sep 2009, 9:34']Your video wasn't clear, so I found another one. Yes I think I can do that ^

Word of warning, its going to be particle intensive. Unless anyone has a nice texture which combines smoke and explosion in one.

EDIT:

Heres your Carpet Bomb FX yayo, it uses the smoke texture stalker uploaded. I think it looks pretty similar to the WIC one, but see what you think :D
Like the previous effect this is public and free to use, but if you use it for a public project, please credit me.

Ion, that's Holy shit awesome!! I hope you don't mind if i add this to C&C U (Credits would be given ofcourse) :sly:

Of course I don't mind, thats the point of the thread.

: Just some pointers if you get a purple box or if you find the particle count is too heavy.

Yes, but I believe I renamed the texture. Thankfully there is an easy fix. Rename the smoke texture from stalkers file from smoke_massive_black1 to EXNukeSmoke1. Then the purple squares will no longer appear.

If your having trouble with the effect showing due to low particle count there is an easy fix. Find Public_CarpetBombSmoke in the particlesystems file and reduce the burst count from 40 to 20. The effect still looks pretty similar, but its a much smaller particle count.

@Helge - Never tried to make particles with cnc3 or ra3.

Very nice, but it does seem to lag your computer alot. Did you turn the burst count down like I suggested?

Yep, i even tweaked it a little bit to remove the weird stutter caused by your code, removed a few unused parameters and i also changed the timing abit to make it disappear faster. Oh and, i made the smoke climb up instead of just sitting there and slowly disappearing :sly:

My PC just can't handle the City map + the buttloads of bombers + the structures deathfx's while running the game in max settings :D. But, if it's only a lone bomber; My PC can handle it fine.. 8|

The smoke suddenly stutters my game for some weird reason...It slows down and speeds back up again..

That bomb FX is indeed "da bomb" =o

Btw, about CnC3 particles: I were asking only because I need a pink-ish (kinda like the wave beam in Metroid Prime, or the glow of Pr0nstars fusion reactor control rods) shockwave with huge bright light, and some sparks. for an antimatter cannon, but nvm

I think he can simply do it in ZH then you transfer it into CnC3. The particle system is still largely the same as the Generals one.

I just got an idea, how about a new FX for the Bomb Truck/Scud/Tomahawk explosions? The orange puff is in serious need of umph.

These are all great fx Ion. Well done.

However if they're all public don't forget to send them to an admin so we can "eventually" put them on the site.

The Carpetbomb blast fx actually fits the bombtruck. I tried it and made the bombtruck look whoopass :sly:

^ this ^

A bigger version for Demo General would be nice too, because that red is even more unrealistic

Oh that, Failure made that. He has a thread with all his particles in.

Finished the FX, its probably to big for a bomb truck now, but it looks pretty nice 8| Quite particle heavy though. You will once again require the texture from stalkers crysis upload, and make sure its renamed EXNukeSmoke1 or you'll get purple boxes.

The flash's speed doesn't seem to fall in line with the ejection of the fiery trails. Unless those trails are made smokey, I would expect them to vanish with the flame as the embers wouldn't burn for very long outside of the blast. Plus they don't seem to travel fast enough for being embers.

Technicalities aside, I think it's a very pretty explosion.

@boidy
for the embers, have you ever watched a bonfire? Embers from that can go far and retain their glow.

Wow, that's freaking epic :o ! Can you make a less smokey version? since that explosion is perfect for the Nuclear MiG's! :D
