So, I've got my new slim version of PS3, and I've got a HDMI cable that belonged to our DVD player.

The problem with the combination is, the screen will intermittently blackout, and seconds later return to normal, which is annoying at least.

We figured the cable could be faulty since the DVD player had the same problem, so we bought another cable. Then, it starts to blackout intermittently again, sometimes more frequently than with the faulty cable.

What do you guys think? Could it be the HDMI cable faulty again? Or the PS3's HDMI slot, since regular TV plug-ins worked just fine? Or, should my family buy another TV?

I believe it's an issue with the PS3 and some HDMI televisions, my mate has the same issue and when he phoned the support line they told him Sony were working on a patch or something.

If you're TV doesn't support HDMI 1.3, it may spell trouble. Also, make sure you have the right resolution for your TV. Choose 1080i if you don't know whether it supports full HD 1080p.
