Sobek your card must be ancient if it runs low ZH with minor lag. I can run ZH at max with no lag at all unless the map has bad scripting or path-finding. Even my laptop runs it at full settings though is more lag prone.

Not really. You just need a new PC. Seriously, you've missed out on at least the last 4 years worth of games, maybe more? PC's aren't that expensive, you could spend as little as £200 and be able to run most things. If you can't get money, get a job, do it for 1-3 weeks, then spend the money on a new comp.

But I'm just a poor ol' American boy |8

Really though, around April I might get a new PC, or at least new parts. But (And thats a Nicole Austin sized but) chances I probably won't receive any by then.

My cousin was supposed to email me about handing me a Motherboard with a built-in video card and many other goodies for free because he's not using them anymore. But that was about two weeks ago, and I have not received a e-mail yet from him >.<

And Ion, it's more then four years worth of new games :( The newest addition to my 'games-I-can-run-on-minimum-graphics-with-a-lot-of-lag-collection' was Battlefield 1942.

Maximum is custom settings, all ramped up to the top and also - in my case - means i've forced a doubling of the particle count through gamedata.ini

High at 1024x768 with minor stutter and lag issues....Yes, i can't afford good hardware unlike you lucky bastards so i'm still using a 2006 era AGP based motherboard with a smoking hot Pentium 4 3.2ghz prescott processor.

I wish you can say that to the philippines where the minimum wage is 300 peso while a good hardwares like a GeForce 8 already cost around 5 to 6000 peso.

Guess what? I've seen a nForce based motherboard with a price tag of 15,000 peso while the GeForce 9 series graphics cards already run at around 10,000 peso...Imagine the cost of building a high-end gaming pc. The price tag would be insane... |8

Also, don't forget that original copies of games here run around at 995 peso (lowest) up-to 4000 peso (the most expensive). So we admittedly end up buying "pirated" copies of it.. 8|...

Ion what custom settings do you force and how? I've got anti-aliasing on. Didn't know how to get anisotropic filtering on. Anything else?

I went into my Nvidia control panel and told it force anisotropic on every application, IE overwrite application settings. I think I just did Anti-aliasing and anistropic, there were other options but those were to increase performance, not quality. I also set them at their highest, so 16x for anisotropic and 16Xq supersampling for Anti-aliasing. I think that the options you can enable depend on your card / drivers.

Increase performance, making the game run smoother and faster without actually forcing any graphical enhancements?

Very interesting...

The increases in performance are related to a decrease in quality. I am lucky in that I have a fairly good rig, so I go for maximum quality, as performance is already capped, at least for ZH anyway.

Damn.

For a second there, I was hoping I could increase the performance of Generals so there isn't lag ten minutes into every game without dramatically dropping the quality :P

I haven't tested it, the drop in quality may be small. But it also depends on your graphics card on what options are available to you. You can try it anyway ^

It used to lagg for me on maximium when i was at my old PC. but now i can run on Supper-Ubber high, forcing a 1690X1050 resolution (due Opition.ini codding) without performance problemans :P

Yup ZH looks pretty crisp on 1680x1050 with the forced graphic options.

Some people have been quite vocal that not everyone can play ZH on max, I wanted to pretty much disprove the theory. While not everyone can, 90%+ can.

Plus it means I can splash out abit more on particle count :P

And tbh, I don't even play ZH anymore.
