So I'm a bit slow in getting my feet wet as it were with Supreme Commander, but as of 2 days ago, I've played the SC demo. It took me all of a game to figure the economy out, which is unique, thus the learning curve. As it was only a demo, I've only been able to sample what the Cybran have to offer, and I do like what I've tasted. The Spiderbot for instance is a rather insane engine of war, and the Destroyers that can walk on land, well, let's just say war has never looked the same when trying to be different. From what I can see of the teaser footage, SC2 will be amazing. The map they give you to try in the demo is probably one of the smaller ones, but even so, it is quite large. In the teaser reel, the maps appear to be one of the best parts of SC2, making for some pretty jaw dropping eye-candy.
Minus the economy curve, the game itself does take some growing accustomed to, as build times vary greatly from a few seconds for the tier one buildings, to over an hour for the experimental units (though these experimentals are well worth the wait). Chris Taylor makes mention that the economy has been fixed, and having "snookered" myself with this cornerstone of survival in RTS', I have to say that I'm looking forward to what Taylor meant by this.
