Is it me, or does it sound like Jobs is talking to someone who has never, ever been even near a computer before?
WOAH HOLY SHIT YOU TOOLS GUYS, YOU CAN CHANGE THE BACKGROUND AND LOOK AT PHOTOS, AND EVEN BROWSE THE WEB N STUFF, YOU COULD TOTALLY NEVER DO THAT BEFORE ON ANYTHING EVER, AND ITS UNBELIEVABLY GREAT.

"You can browse the web with it, it is the best browsing experience you have ever had, it is phenomenal to have a whole web page infront of you, that you can manipulate with your fingers" - I honestly cannot think of any piece of technology that does that, truly this is forward thinking /sarc

Sure it looks sleek, as any apple product does, but this looks like a phenomenal waste of money.

I'll give you a better response in the morning, but for now, I will give you this for the record:

Could go either way, hardly the best product ever made by Apple.

Ontopicness: Yes, I agree, he's hardly just announced affordable nanotechnology, however what Apple do is bring something like this to people in a way that anyone can look at it and say "I want one of those". This won't be the iPod/iPhone, but I bet you considerably more money than you earn that it will sell more than any PC version of a tablet. To date Apple have literally put touch screen technology on the map. Everyone else ends up following them. Microsoft followed them with Vista/Win 7 and the web 2/aqua interface. Mp3s became popular because Apple made the iPod and iTunes. Now, and maybe on a slightly smaller scale, everyone will be buying a tablet PC.

Still would've preferred it if they'd have actually caused some waves and made the games console that everyone was gossiping about. That would've ruffled some feathers.

I can see the appeal... sort of.

Either way it's basically little more than an iPod Touch with 3G, a giant screen and better processor. The thing I'm more interested to see is what sort of apps people make for it with all that extra power to play with.

I think it's just a gimmick to bring in more money.

Well, yeh, but I mean this is literally a half assed attempt at just creating ANYTHING in order to stay afloat during these shitty economic times.

That isn't quite true. No company develops a new platform, invests the money in minimisation technology and puts money into branding if they are desparate to pump out something into the market just to stay afloat. If they wanted to do that they would've upped the iPhone memory or pushed out a 'new' Mac that was 7/19ths of an inch slimmer and had 4 minutes extra battery life. This is a push towards a more mobile style of computing that they've quite obviously been behind for a couple of years and is quite clearly their strategy going forward. The fact that everyone is underwhelmed by it doesn't mean they are desparate, it's just not lived up to the expectation of what they could've done.

By the way he talks about the " Internet viewing experience " its like he's never heard of desktop PC /Mac before. I certainly won't be wasting any of my money on this, the only apple product I waste money on is iPod.
