Simcity 4 ( Warning, big images)

Your port looks good and I like your transistion from high rise to low rise in Goldsmith.

When it comes to bigger cities you really need quite a bit of high density if you want to cover everything. The other option (which is more realistic) is to not give every area everything it wants. To stop mansions growing I tend to keep R$$$ taxes high so the demand is -6000. Periodically I will lower it to allow R$$$ development, then when demand falls I will raise the taxes again and bulldoze any mansions which may have grown. It's also a good money maker, even with high taxes and demand -6000 R$$$ will stick around provided they have the facilities and desirability required. I often have R$$$ taxes of 10-15% while keeping my commercial and other residential taxes low.

You haven't been IP banned, Simtropolis has just been upgraded, so theres been some site issues and will continue to be for a short time I imagine. Theres still some work going on as well, such as making the STEX better, as the new ones just a placeholder. If/when simtropolis goes down again you can always use SC4 Devotion for more custom content.

Farms don't give a lot of jobs...

Maybe, but you've gotta think about realism a bit 8[ (and also provide a job for AJ :/ )

This set of pictures mainly shows off Talon Bay, which is my Second city - but best overall. It's super dense, the outlying cities around it less so. As of currently it has 3133k residents, 1784k commercial and 313k industry. The other city is Oaken, it relies on heavy industry and has a more modest population of 84k residents.

Day and night overview of the entire city.

Next on my list is a proper seaport, may also build a refinery near it.

It's a university, the maxis university was never built to deal with huge amounts of students so I use PEGs Oceanographic Institute to make sure all my sims get degrees.

Something I started a while ago but haven't done anything on since. I hope to fill it at a later date.

I am now using the Shipyard in one of the industrial areas, surrounded by some dirty and mostly manufacturing industry:

If your going to use farms I recommend SPAM (SimPeg Agricultural Mod) - It actually makes farming useful while adding a ton of content. You can get it on Simtropolis, though the site is down at the moment.

SPAM apparently conflicts with some other plugin, since I've installed it, SC4 crashes every few minutes |8

Scratch that, was using the wrong ISO. *proceeds to try and find DVDs again*

I did something about the northmost highway-city, removed the farm city and added a mostly IM city

hmm, I got a problem with the NAM now. All lots bordering a Avenue crossing get the "No road access" Icon, even tho pointing directly at the Avenue D8

Yeah sometimes I get this problem too, but they only occur around the outside edges of a city.
