I guess $300 is an abusive price for a graphics card.

I mean you can play games with a $50 one, right?
The fact that you can only play them on low quality isn't a problem, because you know, you can still play the game. It doesn't matter that it looks like a baboon's arse.

Those two things don't really compare. If you have a low quality GC, you'll get a pixelised game, and an environment so shitty that it'll make you throw your games away, while a low quality headphone will still play music, and as long as you hear cracklings with'em, you'll still be fine with keeping them.
And for your info, YES I use a shitty graphic card, and change them only when I can't run new games anymore.
