Well the problem is that his current position does not fit him. with Real Madrid he is somewhat in Sneijders position but naturally that man is the absolute number one.
Though there is something to say for Van Marwijk allowing him to play each time, as his individual quality makes him more versatile than the young Elia. This was shown in his assist and good free kick nearly allowing De Jong to score. However as Robben is back he will probably get an even harder time. Not to mention there is always Afellay, who is also playing quite good and has got good references with Van Persie.
Van der Vaart will always find a good place to be, I guess. He's just like Kuyt, an overall very useful guy you don't have to pin down to a certain position. I still don't think the currently mostly used team is the best ever but there are plenty of chances for everyone to prove themselves. Haven't seen too much of Van der Wiel yet who is IMO one of the most useful defenders out there atm.

Shifting teams, congrats to Japan for making it to the second round. Honda was fabulous and it continues to amaze me how that guy ever could have been signed by VVV (a dutch survival club in the lower regions of the first division. Honda single handedly got raised them up in the division) and now he took the Japs up to the last 16 with a goal and a magnificent assist.
He is one of the few national team stars who actually meets the large expectations. */Honda fan*
Honda was great stuff. He's got a great shot, and isn't narrow-minded like most strikers are. A truly well-deserved victory for Japan
