Hideously annoying computer speakers issue

RaiDK's Photo RaiDK 22 Jun 2010

Ok, so. Here's the full story.

I've got a set of 5.1 Logitech X-540s in my PC. These speakers were having issues with the volume "popping in" and out randomly, going from loud to soft quickly.

To see if it's actually the speakers, I swap them out for my Altec Lansing Expressionist Plus speakers, which are a 2.1 set. No such issues here, so I figure it must be the speakers.

To make sure that's actually right, I test the original problematic speakers on my laptop: No problems whatsoever.

So I swap them back, and the same "popping in" issue seems to have returned.

So ah... yeah. No idea what might be causing that, open to suggestions :|

Edit: Tried switching the input cables, no change.

Maybe your soundcard's 5.1 out is broken, but the 2.1 works.

He solved it already, it was a problem with interference.

Yeah, seems the x-540s have an Electrical Interference problem :-/
