On the fence.

Well, I wasn't originally going to do this until later but my conscience got the best of me...so I'll keep it brief. I've more or less alienated everyone around me and fucked up more than usual in the last month or so. I've done so much harm that I'm considering just taking my pride and making a run for it.
I mean, a few people have pointed out that the deal with Codecat was looking pretty set up. After all, admin online and it's pretty odd for someone as inexperienced as myself to have been promoted so suddenly, but this thread isn't just about that. In the past month the number of people I have on Steam has dwindled from 113 to 51. I've obviously been doing something wrong here.
So, as I've originally planned I'll leave everything up to the community. Should I resign from my position as admin and leave or do I deserve a second chance?
I would also like to point out that I hate to be the one making a dramatic "I might leave!" thread.

Have I done something so horrible that it warrants me resigning?

I helped AJ and TheDR oust Codecat out of power in a pretty cruel way.

Well, ensure that the ends justify the means. Make something of it. Booking out now would be a tad Raskolnikov-like wouldn't it?
EDIT: At this moment we both have palindromic post counts. =D

How about you actually say what you did instead of just doing the same old implication routine as everyone does around here?

Short simple answer: Yes
Edit: made it LESS hostile

I don't think you should leave, that won't change anything to the actual problems in the forums, plus you have every right to be able to show that you're worthy of being an admin.

^^Yes, he admitted that he's not even worthy being an admin. So yeah, just to keep his dignity intact, he should leave.
Sgt. Rho 07 Jul 2010
I'd say stay TBH. leaving will neither make you more experienced nor solve the problem.
Rich19 07 Jul 2010
I have no opinion one way or the other about whether you should resign, Hobbesy (I think all the prestige and self-importance that seems to be associated with any forum moderation position on any forum you care to mention is rather unwarrented). But I've simply got to say this: whatever your decision is, you've got to stick around on the forum. You're a cool guy, and it'd be a terrible shame to have you leave because of this issue. I'm not around a lot, but I see no evidence to suggest you've "alienated everyone around (you) and fucked up more than usual in the last month or so".

I wouldnt worry about it Hobbesy. Just wait until everyone calms the fuck down.
Mbob61 07 Jul 2010
Leaving will not make the current situation any better.
What you did was bad part it was part of a collective decision.
I think you should stay are try to help repair the damage that has been done.

I am not totally sure what happened excately, but what I know is leaving at this very moment is not the best interest to the community.
Stinger 07 Jul 2010
You've displayed a sense of virtue to be candid with everyone so I think you should stay the course.
Even the greats such as CommanderJB doubted themselves in the beginning, and eventually went on to teach us all some valuable lessons.

I have no idea about anything that has happened besides you getting promoted Hobbesy, but I think you'd be a great admin, and the forums certainly wouldn't be as silly or funny without you.
Nobody really ever leaves the forums anyway.
EDIT: I just read the thread about Codecat, doesn't change my opinion at all.

I vote in the opposite of Kris in that you should stay and reclaim your dignity by fixing, or help fixing, the so called "mess". Not that I think your actions to begin with were that bad, I view it more as a karmic kick in the ass for codecat but that's just me, and not the subject of this thread.
