So, I am walking down the streets of downtown Chicago when I come across this:

Curious as to what was going on I got a closer look, It was then discovered the entire street was blocked off which is, rare for Chicago.

Then as if I had walking into an action movie (har) Tons of smoke filled the air and a swat team followed closely by an all black painted truck raced down the street. I had wondered quite close to the set of Transformers 3, With Michael Bay and entire crew feet away. Then, As quickly as I arrived their army of security forced myself and the close by crowd of people (which had grown huge) down a flight of stairs where all traffic foot as well as vehicular had been directed. With so many people and dust still filling the air things were chaotic as made aparent by a car crash I witnessed moments after I entered the tunnel. Nobody was hurt but a nice new Lexus wasn't, anymore.

Later that night when catching the train I ran into tens of large covered vehicles (which I assume were the transformer vehicle doubles.) As well as another set which had been littered with debri as well as several semi destroyed cars.

It was a cool experience and I picked a hell of a day not to have a decent Camera. Transformers 3 brought $50,000,000 and thousands of jobs to Downtown Chicago, it's on track for a 2011 release, And won't include Megan Fox.

That cop/guard looks mighty intimidating. I'm surprised you didn't run away screaming, what with his threatening arm and terrifying eyes.

NO MEGAN FOX?!?!?! WHAT MAN WOULD WANT TO SEE THAT MOVIE NOW.

I am sure that half of Chicago couldn't care less about the jobs or the money, but would've preferred the "Fox". Silly Bay is Silly.

Doesn't stop him from being one of the worst directors in contemporary times. I'm surprised he hasn't blown up half of Chicago.

On this, we can agree without argument.

If only they filmed more stuff over here, I'd love to get on set somewhere.

They actually film quite a bit in the City. I've walked past and accidently onto plenty of sets in my time working here. Literally walked into the camera crew working on Rock 'n Rolla a few years back as they were wrapping up from the nights filming.

Yeah but Birmingham is not as extravagant, I cant think of a commerical film that has any sets here other than The Firm, back in the 80s. I havent watched the remake, I dont know if they filmed here at all.

Cool story. I've driven across this bridge many times in Chicago, except there's usually a man drumming on the bottom of two buckets there, not a Michael Bay-splosion action scene. :P

I still can't believe someone's gone "You know what this remake of a loved show about robots from the 80s needs? Masturbation jokes, dogs having sex and a robot with wrecking ball testicles." and they've rolled with it.

Death of modern cinema, right there.

I'm glad she left :P She's a horrible actress. There is far better eye candy out there with great acting talent.

See Nem, this is why you always, ALWAYS have a camera with you. Never know when something exciting will happen. :P

Oh good night Irene. There's going to be a Transformers 3?! :xD: I give up already. Where is it written that movies need a series? This is getting a little out of hand.

I wandered onto the set of some film or another in Oxford once upon a time, but I still haven't got clue what it was (betting my life it was to do with some ex-Oxford gfraduate though). Quite entertaining, but nothing like having the streets packed with husks of cars and SWAT teams and whatnot.

@film, I'll watch it for the action scenes, while Bay is an abysmal director for most things, he does do some epic fight scenes, and who doesn't like seeing massive stompy robots blowing the shit out of each other? It may not be true to anything ever previously involved with Transformers, but it has it's fun.
For there can be no death without life.
