Art of defense for ZH
~ beware 56kers

Being defensive means one thing , holding the line but WERE you draw that line is the most important thing.
before we start we will looking at this from a PvP w/ default settings (10000$) presepective.

Lets look at the benefits
-Your undefeatable if its pulled off right
- Not as expensive as uber spamming units all game
- in the END alot easier to manage
- Nuking the shit out of them in the end
- works well in games with 2+ players
- being double teamed is not a issue

Lets look at the disadvantages
- Ridiclously hard to pull off
- timing and money are not on your side
- the enemy will adapt to what your doing and spam alot of the counter
- if your defenses arent well placed rushes will take you down in a instant
- Building SWs will trigger Double teams and sometimes EVERYONE will try to take you down.

Step 1. how you place your defenses / how to hold off rushes

This is not properly placing your defenses

Assorting them in a random line will get you killed really fast
your enemy will simply go around them and target your power or Supply centers
Or other critical areas.

Defenses well spread out will do great at stoping any quick rush
you gain all the benefits from having 5 of them just for having 2 well placed ones.

Step 2. Managing your economy early on

at the beginning all you need is 2 dozers to do the job , not 80 not 5 not 1 , just 2 will do the job fine.
Why only 2? With such a slow money start (10000$) you need to be conservative about your cash

You want two supply centers in the beginning to keep your supply system in check (not go broke) and at least 5 workers or 2 supply trucks or 2 chinooks collecting it , any more or any less its a waste of money at this point you cant afford to waste right now

Like any RTS you need money , a good player will try to choke you out on your chances of getting money , as he will try to expand in efforts to build a massive force to overwhelm defenses , You as a player want to prevent that. Expanding consist of getting a few units (not to many you just need a couple) to gain Territory and reap the rewards of it.

Now sending your dozer alone to make an "expansion point defense" would be useless it would be picked off easy by a decent player.

Sending him with a few units increases the success rate that dozer will finish it in time , with both areas secured you now have control over the middle
and the supplys in your base

And now you have access to more secured supplys

Step 3. Teching up and were defenses can come into to play later on.

By this point you have successful stomped his rushes and hes probably Teched up faster then you , this is the point were turtling becomes a pain in the ass to do.

But it still is possible , teching up is vital in Zero hour for breaking defenses when tank spam simply does not work.
the good thing is he has artillery , but so do you.

placing a tomahawk next to a defense or a little behind it will do you well , also giving you an advantage would be to have a nearby dozer to repair the defense under fire , defenses don't have infinite health and they can die >_>. And thats why a tomahawk can serve useful for stomping any Artillery from striking down on your ( or any other artillery for that matter its not just the Tommie that can do the job ).

Build your tech center in the back of your base and reinforce it with a defense or two , in SWGs case a Firebase would be alot more "Cover fire" effective.

Step 4. late game

At this point Its pretty much artillery warfare your Spamming artillery repair defenses (As SWG aurora bombing the fuck out of him)
And you will probably have a hefy amount of cash. This is were your SWs and Secondary economy units come into play
(Hackers,supply drop zones,black markets ^_^)

For that i use this system/logic

1 SDZ = 1 black market = 4 hackers
1 supply stash depleted means 2 SDZs shall take its place

pretty easy id say and works succesfuly in the end you will be zapping him away with super weapons or in my case steamrolling him with a massive army
at this point its pretty much up to you and the situation your in.

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial.
