Space Marines (Game)

That quote was taken from the Steam forums, the Official thread doesn't say more than "It will have co-op, and we'll realease more info soon". If that is true though, I don't see why you shouldn't get it for free. In the end you are still going to activate the game through Steam, if I am not misstaken.

I think its going to be like those multiplayer passes where you have to pay for mp if you buy second hand (i.e the game key is already registered). So the steam version should be safe since your game is bound to your account.

Space Marine will have Co-Op added in 30 days give or take after launch. Why? We wanted to polish up the Co-Op aspect of Space Marine.

Everyone who purchases Space Marine at retail (brand new) will get Co-Op for FREE. If you buy the game one year from now the Co-Op option will still be Free as long as the game is sealed brand new from retail.

You have to admit that TLS is the reason we kept playing DoWII and Retribution, and the mode must have been successful enough to launch as a standalone game. Maybe that's what they are gunning for here aswell, if you don't know much about 40k but like Co-Oping with friends, you can pay less for it and be happy about it, instread of buying the full game and perhapse not be satisfied with your purchase. Later, if you are interested, you can buy the whole game for a reduced price.
In other news, no news about Co-Op yet

It's not going to cost you, it's free unless you buy the game used (don't see how you can buy it used when you have to activate it through Steam).

I certainly can't disagree with you on the enjoyment factor of TLS. What annoys me is that they're gunning for more money for something that should be part of the main game. Bit greedy if you ask me, that is all.
TLS was free if you had the game. So is Co-Op unless you buy it used.
I still don't get why the video game industry treats used games as if they where the devil's avatars on earth though.

I had the honour to be able to test the beta MP at the GamesCon in Germany. Even though it was on the XBox 360, and initially I had no fricking clue what the controls where, I did ended up as second of my team. I choose for the standard marine (not Jumpjet or Heavy Weapons) and for the heck of it I choose the Melta as primary and Bolt pistol as secondary. I never touched the latter one, as the Melta was what I expected: devastating at close range. I ambushed a lot of Chaos Marines with it
We did loose in the end, mostly because some of the Chaos marines where pretty devastating with their Chainswords. They reminded me of Khorne Beserkers. Still, if they where distracted, they where an easy target for my Melta
I'm now almost sure I'll get this game. Can't wait to torch some Orks and Chaos in the campaign

Anyone else feeling that because of the way the Space Marines are set up to play, that the OrKs might be a bit too easy to deal with, and therefore make those bits a bit grindy and/or boring?

I guess Orks are found in larger groups, and may have some other tricks up their sleeves compared to Chaos.
Also, fixed the awful typo I made. Sorry Nuker

You didn't hear anything about the Co-Op mode when you were there?
Nope, it didn't had any presentation, only a playable MP of Space Marines vs Chaos Marines. You did had the option to customize your marine the way you liked, but that took way too much time, so I only customized my weapon loadout. You had pretty much weapons to choose from. This may be because I was the 'standard' marine, and not Jumpjet or Heavy Weapons

When you find Orks, large numbers is all you ever find, unless they've just "lost" a battle and are regrouping. They learn new and devious tricks over time, but generally it's just a 'Uge green tide that relies on the sheer weight of numbers to overcome an obstacle. Their weapons are ramshackle at best, but some (when they work) are just plain deadly. Of course, it should be noted that it takes a good Mek and a bit of teef (or perhaps a bit of lucky looting) to get these weapons, so not a whole lot of klans have weapons with stupid power.
Meh, I guess I'm still attached to the original premise of this game, rather than what it's become.

So... Anyone else having troubles getting the demo from Steam, or is it just me?
EDIT: restarting Steam a couple of times seems to solved it.

I was a tad annoyed UK users couldn't even access the demo, so I just went searching around the forums.
There's a solution!
paste steam://install/55410 into your browser (not chrome. Chrome just google's it), and hey presto!
Demo.

I would love to download this but my bandwidth is limited this month, already had to shell out £15 for more, don't fancy doing so again.
