So yes, I'm going to soon be building a HTPC. This means a small case, TV Tuner, quiet parts, etc.

Has anyone had any experience building such a thing? It's been a while since I've built a PC. I'm particularly looking for something good case-wise. This one looks good so far.

All suggestions welcome - Thanks in advance!

Just wondering about the purpose. Are you going to record TV on it? You are likely to need a NAS case or a bigger case with multiple HDD space for that. Not sure how quiet a ITX can be, but I do see they have mostly passively cooled parts so it should be fine, depending how loud the bundled PSU is. For comparison, my gaming PC is as quiet as any mechanical HDD can be, the standard rotation noise is much higher than my fans so don't worry about too many fans making it noisy if the fans are indeed quiet. I have 4 Noctua fans, Arctic cooling GPU cooler, its quite a few fans there.

Also, are you building it for war? Its under Warfare Technology.

Whoops, no I'm not.

It'll primarily be used for Windows Media Center for live TV and XBMC for downloaded/ripped stuff. I've got an external for that stuff.

There are some interesting new ITX boards coming up, so depending if you wanna wait or not I would go for those. The case is good, but I recommend looking at some of the HTPC cases Lian Li has to offer, they are not as expensive as there bigger counterparts, but they do enjoy dust filters and low noise fans.

Planning to build one myself too. But probably later when we can move into the summer house.
