Hello people, I hope someone knows an answer.
I got a new PC recently and I wanted to install Windows Xp in addition to Windows 7. I installed the Windows 7 first to get rid of the former OS and then installed XP on a second partition of the HDD. Now on startup, I am not able to choose 7 or XP because it instantly uses XP without giving me any boot options. I am aware I apparently installed in the wrong order but upon trying to install Win7 again to fix it or do a repair install it refuses to work. The XP is on a disk, the 7 is NOT and I am not sure I can burn the files on a dvd.

I read I have to change the booting files under XP via the command msconfig but I am not at all sure what to do and before I mess up even more I will not do anything before getting advice.

Point in case, I want the boot option so I can choose either XP or 7 to boot up. If anyone knows help, I would be very very glad for their answer.

Thank you in advantage.

Edit - now I somehow managed to make 7 boot but it's instead of XP now <.<

Edit #2 - in the meantime I managed to get the Windows 7 and XP boot option, but now XP stands still on startup, after the boot logo went through to the XP on blue background where there should normally be the "Choose Useraccount" I can only see the XP logo and nothing else happens.

One suggestion: If you have Windows 7 professional, just run the XP mode VM.

Also, you could install GRUB using a Linux boot disc.

After a lot of trying I found out the last woes of the XP install and managed to fix it. Also I do not have a linux disk, but I will try to get one for such cases. Thank you anyway ;P
