As long as you have a an adequate PSU it would work fine IMO. I have a 275 GTX running on a basic MSI P43-T Mobo with an E6600 and it works just fine. Prior to this, I had a P5N32 SLI Mobo which did not support pci 2.0. Still it ran without problems. AFAIK it did not bottleneck because I also had the same question as you when I bought my 275.
