Alright, I've been looking into reading some books lately, and I found the Ciaphas Cain novels from Warhammer 40k. As usual I can't find those kind of stuff in my local library, so I am thinking of ordering the first of the series, For The Emperor, at an online shop.
I need some opinions though: how are those novels? Has anyone read them?

I have never read any of the Cain series myself, but from what I hear from lots of people on 40k forums generally, they come highly recommended.

Alright, next question: where to get them. I can find the latest books of the series in some online shops, but if preferable I want to start with the first in the series: "For The Emperor". Anyone know a place where I can order them online, which is also available for ppl living in the Netherlands?

Alright, read "For the Emperor" and "Caves of Ice", and I can say I very much enjoyed it, and it was worth every cent. It's really nice that I have the omnibus version, which has bundled the first 3 books (and 3 short stories), so there's a certain line of continuity.
The stories themselves are written from Ciaphas Cain's point of view. You can see it as a autobiography, with each book telling the story of a mission. As it is written in past tense, you sometimes read some hints Cain gives, which makes you want to read on (or at least, I do). As it is written from Cain's PoV, you know his thoughts, which gives you an impression of the real Cain
Contrary to what you feared Wiz, there aren't that many stuff about the IG. Of course, you have the regiment that Cain is attached to, and you get to know some background information, but most of the story is about Cain, with the IG helping him.
All in all, I can say I am really enjoying these books, and I'm almost sure I'll get the second omnibus with the remaining books as well. I can advise these books to any W40k fan who likes to read
