So, this is a "minor" problem that is now sorta plaguing my '07 computer.
As the topic states, sometimes when I turn on my computer, it goes into something like "Verifying DMI" or something... and then this. Hard disk boot failure, please insert system disc; can't find my system disc. CtrlAltDel restart, no effect, again, no effect, cycle for around 7 times before hard shutdown and unplugging power, waiting twenty minutes, and retry. The first time it took only an hour or so to get it working again but today I started trying at around 1300 hour but now it's 1712 hour already. Yeah, four hours to get a normal startup that doesn't crash when I try to use MSN or the Chinese QQ.
I need some advices. I have no idea where the system disc is. Should I send it to a shop and get them to reboot my computer completely, or just get a new one?

Sounds like your hard drive is on it's last legs, or your master boot record has been comprimised. For now though I would backup any essential files or whatnot that you have on that PC, and then run a CHKDSK, it will identify any damaged sectors on your HD and try to repair them, if they exist. I presume your using XP, so here are the instructions for getting it to run http://support.micro....com/kb/315265.
If the problem lies in the master boot record it can be rewritten but it requires booting under DOS and using a floppy disk. The exact commands I cannot remember, search the internet for a guide.
HD Failure is a pain in the arse, but its alot cheaper than other parts going bust. HD's have been dirt cheap for years now.
