So, I've decided to switch from YR to CNC3.

I did have some stuff I tried to do in ZH in the past, but right now it looks like a complex story.

Now, small question: I've installed the SDK, the RTS tools menu in 3Ds Max 9, and sadly I don't see any W3X model import option. Am I missing something? Is there anything else I have to search for?

Also, I've been searching for the textures, sadly I did not find the right .big file. Any suggestions where it is?

Another thing: Is there any tutorial on rigging and animation for these models?...I can texture, model and I can render decently but I suck at animation. Maybe it is similar to ZH rigging? Or maybe it is possible to copy the rigging/animation from other models?

Many thanks for the support :P

The rigging for CnC3 and ZH models is pretty much identical. But Turrets and the like are usually done with wwskins, like infantry in ZH, in CnC3, to make it less ressource-consuming.

There is no official W3X importer, but several unofficial ones. To export a model from 3ds max to w3x, just go over export and select w3x as format.

I know how to handle with the exporter, I just have to learn a couple of things.

Bother naming any importer?

BTW, awesome work, I've seen your thread in the artwork forum :P

Google Search for Katz W3X Importer. It's, imo, the best one. It can also import animations, so if you wanted to edit an infantry from the game you could, easily.

Aha, thanks D8 Was used to older methods, didn't knew this one.

BTW...another thing: Where are the model textures for, let's say, the Predator, are? I mean, I do have some .asset files which...well. I can't open, even with the Asset extractor. For example, W3DContainer.GUPREDTANK_SKN.asset . I suppose that's where the textures are? I did manage to extract the terrain textures, but....there aren't any model textures. Where are they?

I'm sorry if I ask dumb questions, but I'm pretty much a newbie to CNC3 modding.

Also, are there any other...beginner resources, let's say?

If your using the Asset Extractor, open a stream and select "extract as source" instead of "extract as asset". THats should give you *.w3x and *.dds fles.

Well, I suppose there's only one Asset extractor, right?...I mean, I still don't see any texture at all.

Use Bibber's Asset Extractor.

If you want to extract texture then select the Texture:* entries, not W3DContainer.
