So, since my old desktop's hard drive is totalled, got a new laptop.

I installed TFD, wanted to run Generals, and it won't run. Set it to run as admin, and it came up with "game.dat has stopped working". As for ZH, it's generals.exe.

Any help?

Make sure you install to the Program Files directory (not the x86 one) the game is a bit dim. Also try running in compatibility mode for XP SP3. Another option is to set the info in options.ini before you boot.

In other words some basic google-fu

Running the game as administrator and/or deactivating the stupid windows UAC helps, too.

have you checked to make sure that the options.ini file is there? Windows 7 sometimes has issues with creating the file.
