Well chappies, it's been over half a year since I went on a trip, so it's well past time for another. This time to, you guessed it, ze Germany, Denmårk and one day of Swöden. I'll depart tomorrow morning at 9 AM so in a bit under 24 hours. It's a "study trip" so me and a bunch of other students are gonig to visit universities, institutes and companies (including Carlsberg brewing if I'm not mistaken 8| ) during the day and drink our heads off during the night |8 . I'll be back on the 25th.

I am insulted, there is clearly not enough bork-bork-bork in the tags.

Have fun, stay clear of the killer mooses and the snow storms while you are here 8|

I did put in a bork-bork-bork tag but it doesn't show on the main page, only on this page :xD: . I'll bring my coat with me, thanks for the warning :P .

I question the general assumption that i am inherently deficient in the area of grammar and sentence structure

We'll be on the Autobahn I think, but in a coach or something... Means we'll be a heck of a lot quicker than a Camaro though :P .

So, there we go then. Germans, Danes and Swedes; read this, because it concerns you |8 .

The first five days we stayed in Hamburg, Germany, in a hostel which was previously a brothel and which didn't exactly try to hide it:

We stayed near station Homosex which was called that by us because of an eponymous graffito we spotted there. We visited stuff like the university of Hamburg and the DESY synchrotron, the largest one in the world, which features tangential beamlines like this on a ring several kilometres in circumference:

Of course, Germany is know for its immense lack of humour and thoroughness and indeed everything there worked exactly as planned. It was very nice there though, we saw some quite nice stuff over there including beautiful classic cars - one of the Germans' virtues IMO. As it happens we were at one of the least serious parts of Germany at all though - smack dab right in the middle of the red light district next to the Reeperbahn (similarity to "Raper"-bahn must've been intended) which after Amsterdam is the single most sinful place on the planet.

Next we visited Denmark for six days. Denmark, a country perhaps most famously know for its title as most boring country on Earth is of singular interest to the Dutch people as Denmark is said to have uncannily much in common with the Netherlands (guess what that says about us :xD: ). The Danish stereotype was rather unknown to me but the famous Danish stereotypist Humon helped me along greatly with it and indeed I can confirm that the stereotype of all Danes being perverts and drunks is completely true |8 . There are porn posters and PEGI-18 TV adverts at 10 AM on every TV and on public TV screens everywhere and the State Museum of Art's gift shop (a museum basically full of Rembrands and stuff like that) was a table stacked full of porn books :xD: . Furthermore, when we met up with some students from the university of Copenhagen, the first thing they brought out (as early as 3 PM) was this:

which was a double beer bong intended to operate/drink from like this:

Posted Image <- and apparently they also drunk full-strength wine from it like this as well :xD:

as well as this which is a drinking game which is supposed to be played for 24 hours straight (I want one! :D)

All in all though, I have to say Danes are completely fucking awesome. They are REALLY nice people, very easy to get along with, very friendly, and hospitable. We were also instantly invited to a party going on which was quite fun:

Posted Image <- just five minutes into the party

The Danish language, when read, at first seems like an impossibly funny collection of Ø sounds (like in Øverød) and weirdly pitched noises until you realise that Danish is actually pronounced quite flatly and as if you're eating something and the yødelødelødelø you expect it to be is actually more like Swedish.

In fact, Danish is somewhat easy to understand for the Dutch and vice versa.

The Danes have almost impossibly much in common with the Dutch. They are extremely liberal (i.e. they adhere to all the right values 8| ) and even have a micro-nation like thingy in Copenhagen (awesome city that, btw) called Christiania which is basically a hippie convention with people shitting and pissing in buckets in the open and markets selling drugs so in the open not even Amsterdam would conduct business like it :xD: . However, the Danes are so like the Dutch that they've completely stolen our culture and their gift shops are full of souvenirs of clogs (wooden shoes) and windmills and the Danes have applied for Copenhagen as bicycle capital of the world (which is rather weird because the amount of bicycles in Denmark is nowhere near as much as in the NL) and they even eat licorice and our cheese. This is on one hand rather comforting as it creates a feeling of home away from home, yet on the other hand quite extremely discombobulating D: .

We only spent one day in Swöden and only Lund at that which is not very exotic so I can't really say that much about Swedes except that they have the Danes (and vice versa) and think that the Dutch speak Danish (while the Danish think the Dutch speak Swedish). Swedes are kind of unconsciously funny but much more well-known than any other Scandinavian nation, partially because there are more of them (as many as ten million OMG) and partly because they are much better engineers and make quite a lot of stuff including their own cars, planes, weapons, tanks, ships etc. etc. which is actually pretty impressive. I wish I had more time to enjoy their completely hilarious accent (which is so silly that there is nothing at all about it that is not funny) but we didn't have much time or freedom of movement there. We did visit Tetra Pak which is the world's biggest seller of liquid food packaging - just look at the carton of milk you're holding and it will very probably say Tetra Pak regardless of where you are from, really quite impressive.
