i am using firefox, but its not just restricted to the internet, it happens on other programs too... oh yeah, and this never used to happen, i think (not 100% sure) it started after i played something on windows media player and the sound quality was poor, so i turned the volume up so i could here it better and now this :P

I think you just busted your speakers. Do you have a different pair of speakers that you could use/borrow? If so, see if that rumbly noise happens, then if it doesn't, you wrecked your speakers. If it still does, you wrecked shit within your computer, which I have not a damned clue on anything in there :P
