Pretty much. If I wanted fiction about people, I wouldn't be going to science fiction.

The possibilities of science fiction/fantasy are what (generally) make human-centric characters within them boring. I can't think of a (science fiction/fantasy) RTS game where I main the generic human race rather than one of the more interesting other races.

But... are you serious? Dubstep is completely mainstream these days.
