We've just decided to get rid of it because fuck education.

No, that's a good thing.

The only real way to pass the 11+ plus is to hire a personal tutor because they don't teach the questions in schools. It has a bunch of random crap in it.

I guess it might be slightly different over here... Everyone takes the 11-plus (there is probably the odd exception, but taking it is the norm). I went to Grammar School (without a tutor), it was a very good school with great pass rates.

The states voted to scrap the 11-plus, then the public was like "lolwut, that's a dumb idea, why weren't we asked about this" so they voted on it again and were like "lol j/k we're still scrapping it".

The thing that infuriates me the most is that they say they are scrapping it to 'improve' education, when everyone know's the only reason this decisions has been made is to save money. I know first hand what's it's like being put in a class of people of a different skill level, it cost me a good grade in my Maths A Level. Now everyone gets that privilege, hooray!

I guess my local Grammar school is more of a pay to enter kind of affair. Only people with money or the people that knew the staff got in.

I guess because I spent the whole of my education in classes of different skill levels, I'm not phased by the idea. I also don't think segregation at 11 via a single test is a decent way to sift out intelligence.

Sounds like College over here. If you got a very good grade in 11-plus you had the option to go to College, but a large portion of people fail the test and just pay to go there anyway.

ISO (European) keyboards have one key more than US ones. I have a huge variety of layouts though. Quite a few are Asian layout, actually. But almost all of them are winkeyless. Some of the older ones simply look bizarre if you're used to a modern 104:
