I absolutely suck at fighting games, so can't really comment on how good it is as a fighting game. (Seems pretty good competent to me)
The animation is absolutely gorgeous and I think the story is going to be good too (but only an hour in so far). Those are the main reasons I bought it.

They become active and a dragon comes out of them once you bring 7 balls together! 
And it is good to hear story is good. I always enjoyed Dragon Ball story even though half of it is about characters screaming at each other

Not in order. I watched first few episodes and then an episode from late parts of the series. I couldn't make myself watch it. It lacks the quality of the Z or even GT (Z is my favourite) Super is nowhere near as good as GT, let alone Z.

Meh. I like it... But the two films were definitely better than the first two arcs.
Either way, Dragon Ball Fighterz is set at some vague point in the Super timeline.

I liked the part they started to fight with Jiren. His "not giving a fuck attitude" and overpoweredness is intriguing.
It doesn't give the same feeling i had when i first saw Freeza, Cell, Majin Buu etc... though. Might have to do with something about my age
But it is getting kinda stupid, like DC characters. Always someone more powerful and Batman(Goku) finds a way to win
