They're fairly scary people too. Quite rigidly connected to the bible, and entirely too nice in person. As in, abnormally nice, it's not the way people are supposed to behave.

They are not nice. They are living by a code and acting. Just like a soldier obeys to their commander, not that they want to. Their "Lord" wants them to be nice, so they stay nice. This is actually quite dangerous, if they somehow lose that faith, their true self will be unleashed.
I've gone through all the phases a religious person can go. All in all it doesn't matter which God they believe in, they all driven by "fear" at the core of their beliefs. Love is just a mask.
