Well, there is actually a similiar saying in Turkey. Apparently, we had nothing back then and everyone was living in villages before AKP rise to power. Some even say we didn't had smartphones and fast computers, internet, led tvs back then(well yeah, i guess Erdogan invented them all)

The misinformation people dealing with here daily is on par with the 1984 scenario. Somehow, %52 of the country believes every single thing Erdogan says. He never has any flaws, it is always the fault of our "enemies".

Hard to say, it could happen today or years later. It just takes one event to trigger that. Economy is in very bad shape now and seems like it will get even worse. People are afraid to protest anything for the last few years but if things get worse, eventually people will rally in streets. And then imagine people getting attacked by police or armed royalist mobs and killed in those protests, it will only make it bigger. Then he will resort to even more violence. That chain reaction might cause civil war. Thats how it started in Syria. (not by economic reasons but still the process is the same)

Erdogan got %52 of the votes yes, thats true. But atleast minimum %30 of the country HATES him. And i am pretty sure that percentage is much higher among military officers.

I don't think it will start before economy completely gets wrecked though. No matter how hard rest of the people hate him, that failed coup attempt acts as a shield for him.
