That's the cinematic trailer. The in-game gameplay is muuuuuuuuch slower. But hell, Tyranid vessels are pretty bad to fight against. They kinda just want to eat you up, launch tentacles to grab at your ship and have this ability to just ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM forward and bite you if you're within range. But still pretty fun.
Then the Space Marines..they're scary too. First time I fought to the point where they entirely de-crewed two of my ships and I kept having to send boarding parties back to crew them. They seriously love their boarding actions!

Is the optimization good? My machine runs Monster Hunter on high setting quite well but that game looks much more detailed with so many particles and shit.

Haha if you can run MonHun on high, BFG2 will be okay. It's not SupCom/C&C levels of unitspam. Just the backgrounds are HUEG as fuck and are fuckin' detailed and big. Lotsa space debris too.
