Conscription is considered a great idea by those too old to be conscripted

It is a horrible thing to begin with. They basically indoctrinate regular people and attempt to turn them into soldiers by torturing them.

But still, it is nice to see all those "alpha males" treated like worthless pieces of shits. In countries like Turkey, where patriarchy is the norm, almost all men raised like assholes. Drill sergeants knows exactly how to deal with that (usually because they are the biggest asshole) quite fun to watch

Commando training is nice though. Sergeants are fully muscular and highly trained professionals which always walks around fully equipped (with a big ass commando knife too) When i went there i had like 100 gram of muscle in my body (spending 20 years playing video games doesn't help) so i had properly functioning body when they were done with me.

I never managed to solve the mystery how the hell i went 2 weeks without shitting once though, even though we had 3 meals a day, and it wasn't just me. I guess we burned everything we ate?

By the way, fun fact, conscription is also applicable to women in the Netherlands since last year, as it was considered sexist for only men to have to do it. Although the necessity to actually come and do it has been lifted since 1997. But they could reactivate it any day they wish to, and there have been more and more people pushing for it (Europe-wide).

Of course, the reason is that they don't want to use expensive soldiers for the dangerous intervention missions - conscripts are much cheaper.

Yes, but they basically "own" lesser ranked soldiers and can do whatever he wants, that power is feared
