Pretty cool stuff: recorded hydrophone sounds from a US warship's active sonar. The spectrogram shows the frequency.

It's very different from what you hear in movies, quite haunting. You can hear the echoes from things in the ocean, as well.

Fun fact; at 220-235 dB it would rip your eardrums to shreds, and with bad luck your lungs or brains too, if you were anywhere even near it. Apparently it injures and even kills whales and dolphins many kilometres away.

It's called convergent evolution. Essentially it shows there's more than one road that leads to Rome.

Evolution and natural selection is a ridiculously powerful tool. In some cases things like eyes evolved so quickly that the time needed to go from nothing to a fully functioning eye that it's shorter than the "refresh rate" so to speak that we can observe in archaeology.
