Dude assumed lost and been searched by the gendarmarie, later the lost dude sees the gerndarmerie searching for him and requests to join the searching efforts to find the "missing person" which is himself.
And apparently gendarmarie is searching for a "missing dude", without any more context, just a dude missing "over there"
