Just close all the windows and doors and haul ass to the field?
Just standard procedure. Evacuate the entire building, get the police and three fire trucks on a priority one call and have them check out the scene with aspirators and extinguishing equipment. Because we'd already emptied five fire extinguishers and two sand buckets onto the fire it was pretty much settled by that time which they were able to confirm with the thermal cameras. They could also confirm the smoke had passed from the room (there was a lot originally).
Honestly this procedure is pretty common for our building, although there usually isn't an actual fire. This time it just wasn't a false alarm.
It's heartening to know that the Dutch are very diligent in drills
It's not so much an issue of Dutchness. It's very much a chemistry thing. I'm pretty sure that we have more incidents, evacuations, first response, fire/police calls etc. than all other faculties combined
