I can't imagine it would be a false flag. An attack on Putin makes him seem vulnerable, which is the antithesis of the image he has spent decades cultivating.

Yes, this definitely doesn't feel like a false flag operation at all. Especially as there hasn't been some sort of manoeuvre afterwards. The whole point of a false flag attack is to serve as a casus belli but he's already in a war and not declared one to another party so I think we can pretty safely say it's not one.

Isn't Russia promoting their "special military operation" rhetoric and emphasizing that it's not a war? Not being at war means no mass mobilization of troops legally and all that, hence all the penal troops and PMCs. Would this attack on the Kremlin give them a fake casus belli to announce they're declaring war on Ukraine and start mass mobilization? Unlikely situation though

That's kind of the point. Even though they don't call it a war, they've exhausted a huge amount of weapons, vehicles, ammunition and troops. Mobilisation has been pretty much a thing already anyway. If he's "mobilise" now and go to actual war that'd be a huge loss of face, I reckon.

More...power hungry and incompetent dictators will step up. If we take a look at Myanmar recently for example...their civilian government lasted only a few years before the military dictatorship seized power (again)...

If Putin dies, another oligarch is just gonna take his place!
