Basically a generic Overwatch clone, released for PS5 and PC.

Supposedly 8 years in development, $200M. Released a little over a week ago, with a peak of 700~ players on Steam.

They've already announced it's being pulled from sale and full refunds being given.

Meanwhile, a two person team releases a barely passable game and sells over a million copies. Imagine what indie developers could achieve with such money!

Maybe we should make a game too? {8)

It truly is impressive how much time and money Sony pumped into Concord, and little time it took them to shut it down. :xD:

1. I've never heard of it.
2. Why would you name a game after a cursed plane?

They announced it a few months back at a PlayStation state of play with a really high production value, cinematic story trailer:

The trailer was pretty cheesy and clearly a Guardians of the Galaxy rip off. It also wasn't even clear what type of game it was from that trailer. It wasn't until the end slide where they announced early access and release on Steam & Epic that it started to hint that it was some kind of online live-service F2P game... Except it wasn't F2P, they decided to charge $40. |:

There's clearly a lot of really talented people that worked on that game. Gotta feel so soul destroying see it get pulled 1 week~ after launch. :/

I feel in general that talented people are often wasted working on AAA games. There's usually so many limitations, restraints, and other interference from the publishers.

It's gotta be one damn good AAA game for me to buy it nowadays, I tell you. Or a remaster of one.

After Steam decided to warn me that the refund system is not intended to try games out and that I might not get refunded in the future if I "abused" this sytem I download almost everything I can't get a demo of anyway, and then decide afterwards if I thought it was worth the money.

I got warned too but after getting a few games without returning, it got reset and refunded many games afterwards. (don't know the exact number and time needed for that though)

The sad thing is Sony have built a reputation over the last couple of generations of building really high quality, well-polished AAA games. To the point where they generally don't feel like what a stereotypical AAA game is. They generally don't have micro transactions (and as a result aren't balanced for a grind) and at most they might have a single expansion DLC.

In recent years there's been rumblings of them wanting to chase the live service trend. I really hope this is a wake up call, and they go back to focusing on what they do best.

What they do best, like not building new WipEout games. T_T

I have no recollection of such a game like WipEout ever existing.

Do Sony support their games after launch? Roll out updates, patch out bugs, put out more content for games, etc.?

Sony games are typically pretty polished to begin with (at least on PS5, perhaps not so much on PC), so they generally don't have massive day one patches that are required to have a functional game, like most AAA games. But yes, they'll patch things as needed.

They typically make single player narrative games, so if they do release more content, it will generally be in the form of a single expansion DLC (at a reasonable price)

It's not uncommon for them to release additional cosmetics or bits of functionality after the initial launch for free too though.

I dunno, I've heard very bad things about that game. Apparently it was Hitler's favourite game, and it kills puppies.

I think the UK needs more guns so we can have guns for those guns.

Who will protect the guns otherwise?!

I just had a dream that me and a few others were throwing tiny grenades (just bigger than a grape) around a corner at Elon Musk. He managed to keep dodging them and kept mocking us.
