FFX was the last fully turned based FF game.
FFXII had the gambit system when you use rudimentary programming to give commands to allies, e.g. if health < 50, use potion.
FFVII remake trilogy remakes FVII which used turn based, but the remakes give you an extremely fun hybrid system where you have real-time combat, but you can open up the actions menu which pauses time and allows you to use spells, abilities, items, etc. You end up with the best of both worlds, IMO - Engaging real-time combat, but the depths of the tactical gameplay from older games.
One of the many defining features of the FF series is each new game, for better or worse, is different from the last.
I feel like you'd get a kick out of FFXVI, just because of the variety of British accents.

So if I were to try one, which one would you recommend?

Subnautica is definitely #1,
Terraria is definitely #2,
Tarkov is probably #3,
Mass Effect 2 might be #4,
Not sure about #5. I can think of a LOT of candidates.

Also not surprising, but I thought there would be more games just made of pixels

(Or Rainbow Six: Siege, which you won't stop talking about.)

My list is:
Timesplitters 2
Team Fortress 2
Natural Selection 2
Killing Floor!
Company of Heroes: Blitzkrieg (Mod)
I think perhaps splitting the list to single player / multiplayer might be good.
Single player wise it's:
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
Dead Cells
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2003)
Bioshock
(Edit: Half Life 2... or Half Life: Alyx...)
Honourable mentions are Toejam and Earl (Sega Megadrive), Cities Skylines (well, the whole city building genre), Supreme Commander, Civilisation 5, Garrys Mod and many of the ones that have already been listed.

I'd probably say one of the modern ones, either FFXVI or FFVII Remake. Just depends on your preference.
FFVI is a more traditional high fantasy story. A bit darker than any other Final Fantasy. British accents.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is more sci-fi with swords and magic. The story also becomes more relevant by the day given that it's about a power company utilising a non-renewable power source, and slowly killing the planet in the process.

Fair warning, if you do decide to try FFVII Remake, go in as blind as possible (especially if you don't know the Big Spoiler™ of the original). If you like Remake, play the DLC and then Rebirth. Don't worry about the original or any of the spins offs.

The trailers make those games look like Devil May Cry, not at all what I imagined it to be Oo .

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Never played Devil May Cry.

Well not necessarily either, I just mean it looks more like a real-time 3rd-person hack-and-slash than a turn-based JRPG

Devil May Cry was great for its time. However, recently i tried playing latest one but couldn't get into it. I guess it is for younger people

Yeah, it was originally planned to be an expansion for Return to Castle Wolfenstein but got canceled for what ever reason and they just released the multiplayer part as a F2P game,

I mean, you're not completely wrong. Ever since they released Advent Children (movie) which had really slick and flashy fight scenes, they've wanted to replicate in the games. As a result they've been leaning more and more towards hack and slash. As a consequence, this has also resulted in the combat mechanics being dumbed down quite a lot too. But that's why I think FFVII Remake strikes are a really good balance - flashy hack and slash, but with deep tactical gameplay too. The trailer doesn't really show it off, but here's a non-spoilery boss battle:
The hack and slash mechanics do a little bit of damage, but they're mostly there to charge your ATB. You then use the ATB to use unique abilities. Because time slows down when your in the menu, you can get quite tactical about, rather than it being purely button mashing. They're also 3 people in your party that you're switching between.

Ah, I see. Interesting. I guess it makes sense, being more flashy and all. True turn-based JRPGs tend to look really dated IMO.
