It's a molar, you can't see it thankfully. But it's pretty disconcerting and I don't really want to brush near it now. I'll phone the dentist first thing in the morning and ask if they can do something about it ASAP.

It's good that it's not painful. Maybe they can glue it back in? Is that a thing?

I think they'd rather do something with it, depends on how far deep the damage goes. My friend recently had a chipped tooth (basically fallen out) and she has had a few choices: complete removal (very quick), a crown multiple sessions/ replacement tooth, perhaps a veneer onto whatever is left.

It all depends on how much time and money you want to spend on your tooth problem.
