Very VERY old but not uninfluential. I'm curious to see who will recognise it.

The board isn't set up in a way Xiangqi is, and there's too many pieces.

It's definitely a chess variant though.

Correct :) . It's the PC version of the original Archon. You know your classics, that game is from 1983 :D . It's indeed a chess-like game in which two sides with unique pieces fight battles every time a piece "captures" another. The winner of the battle is allowed to remain on the board. It's had a whole bunch of inspired games as well as direct remakes and also happens to feature in Mortal Kombat Deception as the chess game you can play.

I never actually got to play it myself, but having really liked Star Control series and wanting to know where it came from, I found out about this and watched some gameplay ages ago ^^'

anyway, another fairly classic game, perhaps a fair bit less known, and one of those games I never even finished the shareware version of, as it's quite unforgiving:

yep, I never quite figured a good way to deal with those guys either... and then later on they leave those tiny tiny minibats that fly randomly downwards and are a bitch to avoid or hit with your guns D:

also all power ups decay for some reason, so you can't even take your time otherwise you'll be left with slow single shots only :(

No, considering that it isn't NFS: Carbon, it's Blur. :)

I believe the car is a Koenigsegg.

Space Invaders.

Quote

As long as the dark foundation of our nature, grim in its all-encompassing egoism, mad in its drive to make that egoism into reality, to devour everything and to define everything by itself, as long as that foundation is visible, as long as this truly original sin exists within us, we have no business here and there is no logical answer to our existence.
Imagine a group of people who are all blind, deaf and slightly demented and suddenly someone in the crowd asks, "What are we to do?"... The only possible answer is, "Look for a cure". Until you are cured, there is nothing you can do.
And since you don't believe you are sick, there can be no cure.

Correct, your turn :D . Blur, a fun little game that combines vehicular combat, racing and real-life cars; a very rare case of all three in the same game.

Blur is addictive. Played it on the PS3 when my friend (who might join these forums) came over last weekend.

Indeed it is.

I found the concept of the game (and its sequel) to be great, but perhaps not implemented as well as it could have been. That being said, I still had hours of fun setting up ramps and doing craxy things. Posted Image
